Zipline
A 730 foot zip-line takes you to a 50 foot tower where then you must travers a 25 foot cable bridge to the returning 650 foot zip-line which takes you safely back to the ground.
Lately I have been thinking about the culture we live in. Just coming off a wonderful summer of overnight camp and seeing 480 of our kids give their heart to Christ I could not help but to think of I John 2:15 “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” The word says we are to be in the world but not of the world.
For our kids they get a week to unplug from the world. No cell phones, no TV, and no screens, just God’s beautiful creation, safety, tons of fun, great food, and lots of love. What a little taste of heaven for one week. At times, it is even hard for us as mature adult followers of Christ not to get drawn back into the things of the world.
We strive at Camp Grace to teach and show all our campers that God has overcome the world and that there is a much better alternative to living their life than according to what the world says is cool, hip, and attractive.
The enemy will always attack us if we flee from the ways of the world and move toward the ways of God. Putting in our minds that we are not happy, that we are missing out on so much if we do not connect with the world’s ways. The enemy’s top job is to convince us we are someone other than who God says we are. This is his way to defeat us, so we just settle for the ways of the world and fall right back into the world’s way of living and of thinking. We must not accept any negative thoughts of the enemy and if we do, we must replace them with the word, the truth, like:
I John 4:4, “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them, because great is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”
Gal.2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me “
II Corinth. 5:21, ..”I am the righteousness of God.”
Telling the truth about who God says we are is how we overcome these thoughts and is a core value of Camp Grace. God through Christ has put His power in us to live a victorious Christian life. We just need to tap into that power and identify, with Christ, that we are His children. We must never accept the names that our culture or the enemy puts on us. This is the way the enemy defeats us and drives us back to just living according to the world. John 8:32, tells us to always replace the enemies lies about us with the truth, “you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
