Dave’s Devotions: Doing Life Out of Who We Are Chapter 3

The Biblically Correct Core Belief System

I was not a Christian until I was 30 years old. I think of life now compared to before I was a Christian and I can’t thank the Lord enough for what He has done for me. Like it says in Colossians 1:13, “He rescued me from the domain of darkness, and transferred me to the kingdom of his beloved Son.” That domain of darkness was the world view I had and the core belief system I was living out of.

When you and I became a Christian do you know you were transferred into Him. Into His marvelous light. You and I were changed from the inside out. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation, the old has passed away, behold the new has come.” What is this new that has come? To really understand this new creation that we are, we need to quickly go back to when God created Adam. When God created Adam in Genesis 1:26 God said, “Let Us (Us, Father, Son and Holy spirit) make man in Our image according to Our likeness.” In John 4:24 it says, “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit.” So we know that the true image of God is that He is Spirit and that He is in three parts, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. So, when he created Adam, He created him in three parts. In Genesis 2:7 we read, “Then the Lord God formed man of the dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living being.” Check this out, the dust represents our body (first part) then breathed into… the word breathed is the Hebrew word (ruach) and is the same word for spirit (pneuma) God created man by putting His spirit in him. Finally in this verse it says then man became a living being. The word being can also be translated Soul. So when God made us He gave us a

1. BODY
2. SOUL
3. SPIRIT

So, let me ask you how many parts are you and I made up of according to God? THREE !! What I am doing right now is building the foundation for our correct Christian core belief system. This is extremely important. If we don’t build a solid foundation, then we can never understand Core belief system. So, you got it. When God looked at Adam after He first created Him, He sees a Body that He gave him, He also sees his soul, and then sees his Spirit. (Holy Spirit). So, a question for you, when God sees you what does He see? Your correct the Same.

Body, Soul, Spirit

Remember these devotions are building blocks for identifying and walking in a correct core belief system. I want to give you one final thing to think about before the next devotion. In Genesis 2:17 God told the man that he had created, not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die. Let me ask you? Did the man eat from the tree? If he did God said that in the day you eat from it, you shall surely die.

Look at Genesis 5:5, Adam lived to age 930. What happened. I will pick up here next time.
